An unnecessary event, the NFL combine only displays athletic ability in a perfect environment.
Last time I checked they all are football players.
When are there perfect conditions for football?
A guy’s 4.4 40 yd dash won’t do him any good in January, in the snow, in Foxboro, Green Bay or Chicago.
It has always amazed me how a guy’s stock dropped when he hasn’t played another game. His stats didn’t change, he didn’t run a wrong route, he didn’t miss a block or a tackle.
I also love how Todd McShay and Mel Kiper have their top prospects for the NFL draft at the beginning of the college football season and it changes 40 times throughout the year.
Let’s leave it alone. Let the kids work out and rest. Let their play speak for itself and we’ll see them on draft day.
When are teams going to learn to trust what they see on the field? That’s what matters.
